A night at Hurricane Ridge

On my recent trip to the Olympic peninsula, I used our last night there to drive up to hurricane ridge. It was a moonless night. I was surprised to find the parking lot almost full at midnight. There was some astronomy event going on. Managed to get a few shots. The cars coming and going with their headlights made it annoying to try to get some night skies.

Interesting to find an astro event up there - I would have expected a deserted visit as well. Nice MW with the Olympics skyline silhouette.

Thanks Alan. I was quite surprised as well when we reached there to find the place full.

Just for fun, here is an iPhone shot handheld.

Very cool Jameel. It's a pain when there are lot's of cars and people for sure. And it's a bit funny that it was an astronomy event going on up there, but people were coming and going with their headlights on their cars ruining the astro surroundings.

As to the iphone shot, I am surprised it's not better. Though you did say you handheld it, so I guess that it pretty good. Otherwise I have seen more detailed MW images from iphones now with their Night mode. Nothing like what our cameras can do, but still pretty amazing for a tiny sensor in a phone.
