A Morning Color Show

Seems like a while back now but we had a really nice sunrise a couple of weeks ago (and rain ever since) that I posted a shot from. This is a 2 shot panorama taken about 7 minutes after the deep reds over Mt. Hood. This one includes a glimpse of downtown Portland on the right just below Portland's West Hills. If you click through to a larger version you can just barely make out Mt. Jefferson off to the right of canter. Not much sticks up at this distance (85 miles) from that volcano.

Thanks Sunny - at the moment the sun is rising just to the right of Mt. Hood for this view so it should be shifting to the left as the seasons progress. By summer it will be completely out of this frame entirely. In the summer I get the sun hitting the sides of Mt. Hood at sunrise.

Thanks Jim - this was one of those sunrises where you send the drone straight up and end up with almost 120 captures before it's done. Total horizontal flight distance was 10'

Thanks Doug - the sun is close to rising behind Mt. Hood so the light reinforces the cloud shapes in this sunrise. I'd love to see another one soon. We haven't had morning color since I shot this on Jan. 2.
