A Little More Hovenweep

I finally got around to processing a few more images from Hovenweep National Monument. For those unfamiliar with the area Hovenweep is located about halfway between White Mesa, Utah and Cortez, Colorado. These ruins are in the middle of the area intensively occupied by the Ancestral Puebloans with the buildings dating to the period between 1230-1275 AD. The buildings are of a similar style and construction to the cliff dwellings at Mesa Verde.

Springtime is a nice time to visit Hovenweep since there are plants with blooms to liven up the scenery.

The Twin Towers as seen from the far side of Little Ruin Canyon.

A view of Rim Rock House from Little Ruin Canyon. The Twin Towers are in the distance.

This is described as The Unit Type House in the trail guide. This is a fairly common floor plan for Mesa Verde period dwellings in this area.

C&C always welcome.

Nice captures Alan. Places like that always seem hard to me to capture compelling images. You did good here with #1 and 3 being the ones I like most.
