A Gentle Flow

I was always attracted to one water feature in the Natural Garden area of the Portland Japanese Garden. A very tranquil part of the garden with small scenes that always presented a different mood each time I visited. I almost always visited this part of the garden whenever I went. This shot is from a summer visit just to break up all the wintery scenes outside.

Thanks Trent - I took this right after I bought a Vari-ND filter from Singh Ray that let me push this to 8 seconds in broad daylight. My Sunday garden visit was one of the first places I played around with the filter.

Thanks Jim - it's a fun little side trip down in the less visited parts of the garden grounds and was almost always worth stopping to shoot. During the summer the sun angles and our day length means there is direct sunlight in the scene before photo members hours at 8:00a. This is a 2 exposure blend for the light.

Thanks Ben - looks can be deceiving.

This part of the garden is actually right next to a somewhat busy road going through Portland's Washington Park. The road goes past Hoggle Zoo and then down to the International Rose Test Garden and the park Tennis courts. There is even a miniature passenger carrying train that goes from the zoo down to the Rose garden area. Of course it has a cutsie horn that toots along with the narrating "engineer".
