A few recent macro subjects photographed with a Canon R7 and Sigma 105mm Macro. I’ve been spending a lot of time experimenting with focus stacking on live insects and invertebrates, with mixed success! The jumping spider and damselfly stacks came together reasonably well, but the caterpillar was a reminder that hairy, living subjects can be far more challenging than they first appear. Tiny movements between frames caused all sorts of stacking artefacts, so I ended up working with a tighter crop from the best areas of the stack. Still learning with every outing, but that’s part of the fun of macro photography.
