A Bit of Chop in the Water

Not quite up to storm surf levels (yet) but the Pacific got a bit choppy yesterday and gave a nice show along the beach. There is a serious storm brewing just off the coast that should put on an even better show later today and tomorrow.

C&C always welcome.
Sweet! Nicely seen & captured. The surf layers, rock placement are a great composition.
I too set up camera for hand held opportunities

Thanks Dan - rare for me to shoot in the forests without a tripod but in bright sunlight with fast moving subjects like waves the tripod is more of a nuisance than an aid.

That looks more than a chop. I like the placement of rocks and the waves.
Thanks Jameel - It might look like more than a chop but compared to what's coming tonight and tomorrow this is calm water.

I looks like a lot more then a chop to me Alan. I sure like the look of this, but from your title I was expecting a bunch of 6" waves coming in.... :)

Thanks Jim - I really did see 6" waves when I first got here last Sunday and it reminded me of the kiddie pool at a municipal swimming facility. Certainly more than just a chop in this case but rather puny compared to the waves I saw at Cape Perpetua a few weeks back. I was hoping for some serious winter storm surf on this trip and so far what you see above has been the peak for this week. I was under the impression that there would be bigger stuff today but that didn't pan out. Tomorrow is a major winter storm with high wind warnings out for 50-70mph winds and swells should reach the 15-20' range. We are supposed to get a couple of inches of rain with that so not sure how shooting conditions will pan out. Might be a good day for the iPhone since it can handle those kind of conditions better than my DSLR.

Just a bit of chop, yeah right! Nice capture. Can't wait to see the full roar!
Thanks Bob - I hope I can accommodate that request.
