That's so true Michael, the Bee never stops!

And I like this in B&W from IR. It's a lot different then in color.

The bee has better job security than an AFGE member these days too. No worries about AI taking away your job either
You're right about that. I check in every so often with my old shop, they have mostly just been affected by no new hires. The mass layoffs of long time employees didn't happen locally, but they did feel threatened.

No new hires but an endless supply of new vets knocking on the door. I understand the drill - my wife worked at the VAMC in Salt Lake City (20 years) before we moved up here in 1998 but would have needed to commute into Portland as a transfer so she retired early instead.

There is a Vancouver campus of the the VAPORHCS, it has no OR or ER, but does have Rehab Medicine, and other Outpatient services. Portland employees refer to it as the "Country Club", as it is pretty laid back in comparison. It looks pretty modern now, but when I first came there in 1987, it was mostly quonset huts and looked like a WWII outpost! There was talk of closing the campus down years ago but it keeps growing instead. And the vets keep coming...

The VA let Clark County put up a building on the NW corner of the Vancouver campus for the Clark County Health Department in the early 2000's and I ended up spending quite a bit of time setting up networks in the building. There was a lot of remodeling and construction on the VA campus while I was still working for Clark County. The VA wasn't in the County Health building but surrounded it since they own the property so we had to drive through their campus to get to the County Health Dept. The department my wife worked in in SLC didn't exist in the Vancouver branch in 1998 when we moved up here so she would have ended up in Portland up by OHSU.
