10 Gallon Aquarium

Since we now have a Pet Section, I decided to do some still photography with my Aquariums and not just video. These are a bit tough to do. Focusing isn't easy, the water can mess that up, getting enough light into the tank so that you can keep the ISO lower while still shooting fast enough so that they fish movements don't cause blur and the aperture so there is not just a shallow DoF.

Betta fish, the males are known for fighting so you can't have more then 1 in a tank. They have really cool long fins and are usually very colorful. But recently I remembered that female betta's are very peaceful and don't fight. So I picked up a couple of them. This is one of them. It doesn't have the super long flowing fins of the male, but they are still pretty long fins when compared to regular fish. So I am liking these a lot. :)

ISO 1250
1/125th of a sec
f8

Jim

I love to watch fish, a carry over from my Koi pond days, never had and indoor aquarium though. That's a pretty collection of fish. I know from first hand experience how hard it is to get focus on fish that are underwater, Nice job all around.

Nice - I had aquariums growing up in Phoenix but haven't had one since leaving home to go to college in the 60's.

I imagine our cat would be more than slightly fascinated if I brought one home at this point but have to assume it might not have a desirable outcome
