Sittin' on the Dock of the Bay

Watchin' the tide roll away. This dock has seen better days, but has an amazing lime color! Across the bay is Little James Island, off camera to the right (North) is Rialto Beach, Washington.

    Happy Hoodoos

These Hoodoos were happy to have some nice direct light at sunrise and just enough clouds to be interesting. Near Bluff, Utah.

    Jagged Edge Mud Hills

While the shape of this area of peaks is reminiscent of the Eastern Sierra around Lone Pine, the rocks are considerably more crumbly. Badlands National Park with a 590nm converted Nikon.

    Chasing Clouds

Southern Arizona, Tohono O'odham Nation. Nice puffy clouds being pushed around by wind made me whip out the ND filters. Thirteen stops on this image.

    Colors of Weston Beach

Edward Weston is well known as a master of Black and White photography. He used B+W exclusively for all his work, except for a short period when Kodak gifted him a huge supply of Kodachrome film. Not to look a gift horse in the mouth, but Weston returned to B+W after he shot the last of the...

    Desperately clinging to the past

These remains of an ancient dock are in the Old Town section of Brandon, Oregon. A one minute exposure smoothed out the water in this protected area next to the marina.

Bruised and Battered, but still functional.

I won't pretend to know what the actual use of this silo-like device is, so I'll just assume it's an alien domicile. Why else would it need it's own satellite communication dish on top? But how did it get so beat up, and why did they leave the hatch open? So many questions. This is just outside...

    Riding the Wave

Just across the river from Page, Arizona, this "New Wave" area differs from the original in that it's easily accessible, needs no permit, and costs nothing to visit. 590nm converted Nikon Z5.

    Rocks, Water, and Time

My favorite place on the California Coast is Garrapata State Park, around 10 miles south of Monterey. While there are numerous trails which get you closer to the Pacific Ocean, there are still awesome views from the carparks along the highway. The carparks have the advantage of being much higher...

    Surf Rock

This sea stack caught my eye at Garrapata State Park in California earlier this month. The right half appears to have precision cuts making the sides almost straight, whereas the left is just randomly crumbling away slowly. A thirty second exposure with 13 stops of ND.

    Red, White, and Blue

Patriotic scenery typical of Southeastern Utah near Powell Point. 665nm converted Nikon DSLR.

    Sunset Glow

Although the canyon walls appear to be more sand colored, this is named Red Rock Canyon State Park in California. A lovely bit of color to start the evening off well. And somehow, in October, I was one of only a few campers!
