Here are a couple from Sunrise. I took this at the same place as my Star shot. I was in this place from 4:00 am until sometimes after 6:00 Am. I am showing two images, the first was taken with a polarizer the second a few minutes earlier without a polarizer. Note the really different color balance. I adjusted the non polarizer shot to the same wb as the polarizer shot and also made some serious blue reductions.

For Jim, while I used the same location as the sunset shot, I extended my central column higher to get more of the S curve.

Next trip I will work on getting more of the S

Interesting how similar the sunrise and sunset shots you showed earlier are - which side of the peaks are lit up is the primary distinction.

I like the non polarized version with the small showing of mist above the grasses near the bend in the river.

I watched the mist develope and was hoping for more, it was gone by the time I got the polarizer on.

Hey Ben,

It is interesting to see the differences. The main one that jumps out to me is the blue of the sky in the polarized feels much more rich in color.

I do like the bit more of mist that is showing in #2 further down the S curve.

Now, is there anyway to get over to the side of the grass where the beaver was in a previous post? You can't go too much or the hill on the right will start to block the peaks some.

That is a really cool area Ben.

There are homes on that side and they have a gated bridge. So I havbe never attempted to get over there.

If I decide not to have a reflection, I may be able to get more of the S.

I like the valley floor and the sky in the second image, the trees and the mountains in the first. So, I like them both.

Just jumping in here, of the first two, I prefer the 1st because the contrast tonality and has better atmosphere. The third post in responding to Ricks comment, is the sweetest.

Thanks all. It was a lesson to me, the polarizer sure cut out a lot of blue. Maybe I needed to have the polarizer effect at about half strength.

I can feel you Ben. Most often if there is a chance at a reflection I get totally focused on trying to maximize the reflection. But I know I have missed some other cool shots because I was too focused on the reflection, and I didn't step back or move in a way to let the lines lead me, instead of me leading the lines if you will. Next time you should try to totally ignore the reflection and just try and work with that water and see if you can get some nice bends in the shot.

It looks like there is a pathway next to the water on the left, how far have you walked along that to see if maybe some different water curves opened up?

I walked up the path until it became faster water and teh river was pointing away from the mountains. I have walked behind here and have taken shots further back, but there are some rough growth that makes walking had and the river angle is wrong. In some years, the higeh water solves some of this, but messes up the reflection.

I will find some older shots and add them here for reference.
