Thursday’s Task: Landscape SCRAMBLE game board: Moon. Your interpretation.

After a cursory search, I found only two "moon" images in my archive. However, I have seen many beautiful landscapes from members with the moon—sometimes featured prominently.

Rocky Mountain National Park, CO

a long gone school house that was in swan valley in idaho. the moon made an appearance on the far right side.
I’m so happy a moon was present—love this landscape! Abandoned structures can have an attractive charm—especially this old school house. Love its setting, colors, clouds and composition. Thank you for sharing Beth!

Craig, thank you for sharing all these beautiful landscapes including the moon—and with great titles! I love the “Bad Moon Rising” title with the moon featured prominently, and the “Moonrise and The Devil”—perfect (clever title and gorgeous image). “Planetary Pedestal” is also a perfect composition with the shadow directing the eye to the moon above. Nice. Another compositional idea in “Desert Light” uses the lighted rockface directing attention upwards to the moon. I also lIke the light captured in the “Desert Moon” image too. Another favorite is seeing the “Mittens” in the snowy landscape—very nice. Again thank you for sharing!

I had to look for a while but I did find some shots that included the lunar orb.

Alan, thank you for your archive research so we might see these beautiful landscapes with the moon. One favorite is the beautiful Harris Beach sunrise—with the moon too! Very nice. The Vancouver sky of colorful clouds and the half moon is another favorite for its colorful simplicity. The Canyonlands image benefits from the moon’s presence for added interest and a compositional aid—very nice image as well. Thank you again for sharing!

Here are a couple from my archive:

Moon high in the sky over and to the right of Balanced Rock in Arches National Park

Moon Ellipse west of Denver
Wow! Larry, a very impressive Balanced Rock image. The color contrast of the orange rock and blue sky creates a beautiful image—with a moon too! Very nice and my favorite! I also like the very large moon ellipse captured in your following image! Thank you for sharing both of these.

Jeffrey, three very beautiful images, each is my favorite! The first image’s texture contrast is enhanced with the B&W edit of the mountains—and moon! The second image with the full moon in the blue sky contrast nicely with the warm clouds and mountains beneath. Good composition. Very, very nice! The third image with another full moon (yes!) above the layers of mountains beneath works well. Love the more subtle coloring in this image too. Thank you for sharing each of these Jeffrey!

Jameel, your “few” moon shots you shared are beautiful captures! Every one! I love the Painted Hills sunset—and moonrise, a favorite! I also love the Yosemite moonrise with the moon positioned between two peaks. Nice. I also LOVE the Half and Half image—great title for a great image! Another favorite! Mt. Shuksan image, is perhaps my most favorite, love the snowy landscape—and its reflection. Love the moon—and its reflection!!! Thank you for sharing Jameel!
