Fun topic. As photographers we tend to seek out expansive views which is one of the main reasons I have doing shooting so much aerial photography recently. All of the shots below were taken from the ground.

Beautiful examples Alan! I really like all your images and especially favor the Death Valley—love the sunrise colors, and the Moonstone Beach—ove the foreground images.

Craig, yes, you have lots of these “edge postcards” and I’m happy you shared them as well! It’s difficult to choose favorites they are so well captured and composed. I will say Trail’s End, New Day’s Energy, and New Day’s Energy are among my favorites.

Beautiful landscapes Ken, and I’m glad your wife was careful modeling in your first image. I especially favor the second and third images—beautiful expanses well seen and captured.

Here are a few from some varied locations...

1) Dead horse point

2) The top of Clouds Rest

3) Looking down into Gullfoss in Iceland

4) Canyon Overlook in Zion

5) Of all of them, this is the one that had me afraid of going over the edge. This is Panther Falls along the Icefield Parkway between Banff and Jasper. The falls were frozen and I REALLY wanted to scoot out onto the ice and get a shot from behind the fall. Even with spikes on, I couldn't convince myself it was safe to try.

Great task, John. Your image of The Great Bend and some of the other images in this thread had me squirming in my seat. No way in the world would I have my head hanging over a cliff to get an image.

Kyle, beautiful images all! Glad you made the safe decision on your last image (it could've been your LAST image) and captured Panther Falls NEAR the edge! My favorite is the winter Dead Horse Point image––beautiful with the snow enhancing this perfectly composed image.
