Thursday’s Task: “tis the Season” landscape. Landscapes that evoke this season for you. My examples below:
Oxbow Bend, Grand Teton National Park, WY
Snake River Overlook, Grand Teton National Park, WY
Ken, interesting conditions there in your area—love your first image, beautiful!I think of Winter as cold and crisp with powder blue skies and crisp white snow and we have had 2 weeks of cold and crisp, without the snow. Unfortunately Winter here is, all to often, cold, wet and dull. So firstly one of my very few local snow and sunshine images.

In 2018 we had a prolonged patch of very cold weather that brought lots of snow and complete travel lockdown when our winds swung round to the North East and brought the cold from Northern Scandinavia and Northern Russia. I would have loved to get out and about to photograph the surrounding beauty spots but 6ft drifts around us and 20ft drifts in many areas made travel near impossible so this image is from 400yards away.

I hope that you are all prepared for the Winter storms that are about to hit North America, stay safe and warm and have a great holiday. Ken
Beautiful images Alan, especially those from Bryce Canyon National Park—a favorite park of mine. The Mt. St. Helens landscape is a perfect “winter landscape.”We don't get a lot of snow in the Pacific NW but I do have some images invoking the winter season.

Jeffrey, I love this composition–a very nice and interesting winter landscape.
Doug, what beautiful images! I favor the Bryce Canyon and the Grand Canyon images but all your images evoke this holiday season. I love the complementary orange of Bryce Canyon with the blue color of the snow.I love snow and think nothing connotes the holiday season more than that.

Michael, a beautiful scene you have captured. Good composition—and I like the white clouds in the background and snow in the foreground. This is the Bridgeport reservoir in Mono County, CA.

Craig, love the Deadhorse point shot.Winter is the best for southwestern images... But usually the snowfall is fleeting.
We are heading into the next four weeks or less of nice cold temperatures though... Then surprisingly, it will warm up really fast.
Somewhere out there.
