I broke out the IR camera for some IR once the color became uninteresting. All comments welcome!

Both are very cool, I think I lean towards #1 as to it's speaking to me the most. I still don't use my IR camera for B&W much, I really should though.

Both are pretty nice in their own way. Nice use of shadows to bring out the textures.

The B&W IR certainly works for me - nice rendering.

Yes. Makes me want an IR/B&W dedicated camera. Love those clean dunes.

Mine is 720nm, so it really only works in B&W. I've never played around with a 590 nm. I assume you could just get a 720 nm filter for your 590 camera if you wanted to go for the deep blacks in the sky or would that lose too much light?
