Abandoned farm in New Hampshire + Edit

Hi everyone, I've been a bit absent in the past couple weeks due to moving our little family (me, husband and cat) across the Atlantic during the pandemic. After a long and tiring two days of travel last weekend, we're self-quarantining at my sister's house in New Hampshire. She has a cozy house in the woods on a dead-end road. It's on a hill with a bit of a view. It's not the Alps but this is the area where I grew up and I'm fond of the gentle hills.

Here is an abandoned farm that burned out awhile back, it's at the end of the road.

#1 - I wished I had stepped out into the long grass for this shot to avoid the overhanging branches to the right, yet I like this angle which includes some of that interesting sky. When I'm feeling less lazy I'll clone out the branches...

#2 - I rather liked the claustrophobic feeling of this crop to accentuate the overgrown subject. Feel like I could maybe take a little more off the right.

#3 - Loved this overgrown side with sunset in the background.

C&C welcome!

Love the series, 2 and 3 are my favorites. If I cropped 2, it would be the left not the right, don't wish to see the roof cut off.

Amy!!!!!!

it’s so great to have you back, you have been missed. :)

That’s a super cool old farm house. I agree with your thoughts on #1, it would be worth cleaning up. My favorite is #2, that’s in a class by itself with the way those plants are encroaching on it. It’s like the view from a bad fairy tale.

Nice set Amy. Very interesting place to capture. #2 for me with a slight crop of the left side. And then #3.

That second image deserves another shout out - I love overgrown places and this is a neat example. I am with Ben on a crop - from the left and leave the right hand side alone. Are those blackberries with the white blooms? I like the view in the last one as well.

Welcome back to this side of the pond :)

Thanks a lot all :D I was fond of #2 myself too but didn't realize it would be a popular choice out of the three. I'm excited to try a different crop and maybe spruce up a couple other things on that one while I'm at it. Will report back :)

I love overgrown buildings. And kudos on moving the family internationally in this 'new reality'. Seems like a good place to self quarantine.

Looks like a great place to go back to over and over in different light and seasons.
Indeed! In fact I have a couple winter shots of this place.

Glad you like it Monika, thank you. It's been really nice to rest up here after the move.

Thanks for the welcome back, Alan and Jim. Yes I think those are blackberries.

I like the new crop - brings out more of the details in this decomposing structure. Most notably the fact that the part of the building in front is no longer aligned with the part behind.

I'm always watching for where the blackberry blooms are out so I know where to visit for roadside snacks in August :)

Thanks! I'm happy about the suggestion to crop out the left, I wouldn't have thought of that.
I love blackberry foraging too :)

I like the crop too of #2 Amy. It also seems like you might have slightly worked the sky some more?

Thanks Amy, glad you like these photos!

Thanks Jim. I didn't rework the sky other than to crop a bit off the top, but I did add some sharpness/clarity to the whole scene :) I like how it came out and I'm glad for the crop suggestion.
