Fun time the other day at Whitaker Ponds in NE Portland, OR.

Watching a pair of young Barred Owls in terrible light (hence the B&W presentation of the pair roosted). Later saw the adult capture a snake and after beaking it for a while handed it off to one of the young ones.

Yes, Jim Flying insects are these birds main but not only food source. Think swallows and swifts also which eat flying insects on the wing so to speak. thanks for liking the images! Mike

Alan yes we used a guide and some shots were of backyard Woodpeckers going to feeders.
