Seljalandsfoss, behind the waterfall

I know it's a classic, but as all classics it's a classic for good reasons. Witnessing an amazing sunrise standing behind the waterfall of Seljalandsfoss, in Iceland, is exciting and almost overwhelming! No matter how classic it is, it is a sight to behold and an unforgettable experience. 8 memorable seconds exposed with Hasselblad X1D, Hasselblad XCD 21mm, and Formatt-Hitech Firecrest Ultra filters.

Thank you for viewing, best regards

I have seen some falls from behind but never one quite this scale and especially with sunrise light. Sweet shot.

This is awesome Vieri! It's a classic that I sure wouldn't mind having myself. This is a really sweet scene.

I just saw an image of tis on the Internet and thought, what a beautiful waterfall. It is even prettier than looking at from the outside. Neat image, Vieri.

Thank you Alan, glad you enjoyed it! :) Yes this is an amazing fall to get behind and sunrise light is just great there, you have the sun out of the frame (camera left) and if you have good clouds the light is really sweet!

Beautiful light Vieri
Thank you very much Kyle, glad you enjoyed it! :)

Thank you very much Doug, glad you enjoyed it! :) Yes, from the outside is a spectacular waterfall, but as there are many - from behind is just something else!

Beautiful
Thank you very much Bob! :)

Gorgeous! How high is that waterfall?
Thank you very much indeed Jim! :) The drop is 60 mt, or 197 ft, but the water is slightly less than other famous falls such as i.e. Skogafoss, is a very elegant fall IMHO. Hope this helps!

Hello Bob,

it is a cool waterfall from the "regular" side too, and in winter that's pretty much all you can shoot since they close the cave if there is too much snow on the ground... from the back is truly something, but I love it from the front with icicles too:

Than you very much indeed Bob, I am glad you enjoyed the winter version as well :) even if you can't walk behind the fall, I just love all the icicles around the waterfall! Iceland in winter is simply spectacular for me, the contrast between snow / ice and the black sand / rock is just out of this world.

Vieri
