Waterfall Wednesday 9/17/2025

Hard to believe but this week marks 8 years worth of Waterfall Wednesdays. Happily the laws of gravity still work just fine and water keeps falling :)

My offering today is a set of falls on the Olympic Peninsula named Madison Falls. I was visiting a friend in Sequim and he mentioned that I should check out these falls on my way home. Neat falls but due to the timing I likely couldn't have picked worse lighting to shoot them in even if I tried. That didn't stop me from shooting them anyway of course.

Add whatever you have showing falling water.

Here is a small slice of 226 feet tall Lower Proxy Falls in the Central Oregon Cascades. I finally made out to these falls last week, having previously been turned back by torrential storms.

One of my favorite falls down in that area. I visited them once during torrential rains and could only shoot the lower part of the falls since turning my lens up would have made quite a mess out of my lens as I didn't have an umbrella with me.

I know what you mean. The first time I stopped here I was returning home from a desert SW trip and hoped to make photos just before driving back to Portland. The forecast called for rain, but it was on my return route so I had nothing to lose by stopping at the trailhead and hopefully catching a break in the weather. No such luck. I parked at the trailhead and waited a little over an hour for the rain to stop, but it was torrential and also packing some strong winds that shook my truck mercilessly. I eventually gave up and drove home. Another December storm in early October. That's Oregon!
