Mariposa Lily and Woodland Clarkia

I missed the window of peak wildflowers in this particular meadow on one of my regular hikes (it was at peak 4 days ago when I was walking with a friend but didn't have camera gear with me and today was the first day I could get back there), so I settled for a macro of one of the Mariposa lilies. It was in shade, but the bloom caught the sun.

And while inspecting a rebloom on my John Cabot rose, I caught sight of a tiny pink spot behind & to my right. Woodland or Elegant Clarkia (I think), which must have been in a packet of wildflower seed since they are endemic to California. The background was a rather ugly color with lots of white blobs that were rather distracting even when blurred, so I colorized & desaturated.

Nice to get the direct light for isolation of the bloom in the first image and some well done edits in the second one to keep the focus on the Clarkia bloom.

nice work on the second one, i never would have guessed that the background was manipulated. both are beautiful photos.
