My contribution to today's Winged Wednesday is part 3 of North American Woodpeckers, the Sapsuckers plus a bonus woodpecker from Costa Rica. My theme for next week is birds from the Rallidae family (rails, swamphens, moorhens).

Most of these I have never even heard of, let alone seen Eric. What a beautiful series. That Chestnut-colored Woodpecker is really something. What a great shot.

I'm pretty much out of fresh pictures of woodpeckers so for today's post I'm using birds from a trip to Scotland in May of this year. If I don't have the correct species names I hope someone will correct them.

No way I can compete with Eric's chestnut woodpecker - that bird is amazing.

My wings are just a young crow wandering around on Heceta Beach from a few weeks ago along the Oregon coast.

Out this morning to photograph the sunrise but it never happened but found myself beside a small lake watching black headed gulls drinking on the wing. I have watched swallows doing the same. The gulls are showing winter plumage so the black head has gone. Ken
