This Harris's Hawk stayed perch for sometime. I was initially using a telephoto lens hoping to get a close-up of his take off. I switched to a wide-angle lens to include the habitat. And as luck would have it he took off. At the time I said to myself, "you should have stayed with the telephoto lens!" However, this is a better shot because his head is in shadow.
I have seen thousands of Common Mergansers, but this is the first one that allowed us to get within 5 yards. Usually, 50 yards and they're gone.
