Today's contribution to winged Wednesday are three bird species found in SE Arizona.

This is male pyrrhuloxia or desert cardinal (Cardinalis sinuatus) perched on ocotillo

Harris's hawks (Parabuteo unicinctus ) breeds in southern Arizona, southern Texas, and south to Chile, Argentina and Brazil. It is one of the few hawk species that hunts in pairs. Because of their gregarious nature, Harris's Hawks readily bond with people and are easily trained by Falconers... making It the most popular Falconer's bird in Europe.

I have another Great Blue Heron shot from the Ridgefield Wildlife Refuge.

Migration is suppose to be in full swing right now. The number of my hummers in my yard is 1/10 of last year. We're in a terrible heat wave and a drought for at least 6 months.
