Baofeng Radio?

Hi, I'm in the market for a Baofeng radio for road trips and outdoor adventures, especially when traveling through areas with poor cell reception. I'm still new to two-way radios and wondering which baofeng radio would be a good choice for keeping in touch with friends while on the road.

Are they practical for traveling, and what models would you recommend?
Any advice on range, battery life, or licensing requirements would be appreciated!

I have heard of something like that, but I have only seen the occasional advertisement.

The newer iPhones let you text with Satellite service, and that works good. Or I recently got a Starlink Mini, and it works great while traveling, so you should consider that.
