I did some backpacking in the Eastern Sierra above Silver Lake this week. I didn't make it as far as I wanted (physical condition along with too many hills and lots of elevation) but enjoyed the area. We spent one night at Gem lake and I managed to capture some stars there. I averaged two...
My wife and I stopped for a two nights in the Alabama Hills between Death Valley trips into Eureka Dunes (came back out and drove around to avoid the long rough road south) and the southern section.
I had a drone disaster the first morning, which I'll write up in a separate thread. Next time...
I took this on an autumn exploration in the Eastern Sierra several years ago. I balanced my tripod on one of the beaver dams and did my best to hold everything still and stay dry. A storm was coming in, which softened the light hitting the trees.
Any thoughts are welcome.
Following Ben's lead, here's one along the road to South Lake above Bishop in the Eastern Sierra. Not sure how much fall color I'll have a chance to chase this year, but I'll find something.
Any thoughts are always welcome.
This little lake is amazing in the fall. Late afternoon warm light straps down the canyon, lights the island, but leaves the walls in shadow. This was taken just after the first snow. Now that I have posted 3 it is time to go and explore all the other great images on this site!
I am headed...
Morning comes to the Alabama Hills on the eastern side of the Sierra Nevada. It was suggested that I upload this image to the site. I am new, so a big hello to the folks out there!
Here's a pre-dawn look at hot creek, from a viewpoint near Mammoth in the Eastern Sierra. I didn't expect it to help, but my polarizer actually brought out some detail in the sky.
Any thoughts are welcome.
I made the obligatory stop at Conway Summit during a fall color trip to the Eastern Sierra a few years ago. The clouds coming in over the top of the peaks would soon close the passes, giving me a nice detour to get home.
Any thoughts are welcome.
From an autumn morning at North Lake in the Eastern Sierra. I started out lakeside, hoping to capture reflections in the calm water. The wind came up before dawn, though, so I started looking for other opportunities. I ended up on this hill, allowing me to cover some of the lake with the...
Here's a wide view of Mobius Arch on a beautiful morning a few years ago. Mount Whitney is centered in the arch, but the whole scene was pretty enough I wanted to show more.
Any thoughts are welcome.
Here's a late afternoon shot from the beaver ponds in Lundy Canyon. The light clouds were kind enough to give me a halo around the sun.
Any thoughts are welcome.
This was taken a few years ago at North Lake in the Eastern Sierra. I'd arrived well before dawn and picked my spot along the shoreline with the other photographers. I passed the time waiting for sunrise taking shots in the twilight while others around me were making breakfast and talking. I...
There is an issue with Uploading Photos (attachjments). I am not sure what the problem is, and I am looking into it. You can still try to Create your Threads and Upload your Photos, but it is hanging up during the Upload.
