When I arrived at Mono Lake the sky was overcast, but the lake was calm. The forecast predicted clearing (which was good, because I planned to shoot some milky way photos later) so I had hope that a good sunset might be in my future.
It was. Any thoughts are welcome.
This is the timelapse from about 10 days ago up in Mono Lake. I had the opportunity to meet @ProCaliberTraveler (Michael) that day.
The clouds were awesome with a Lenticular off in the distance, and it was really windy with the clouds just racing by in the sky. So I set up my tripods and...
Mono Lake is a fun place to capture the Milky Way. The myriad of tufa's make for lot's of composition choices. This is from about 10 days ago, there was some moonlight, but the moon had been set for hours at the time that I captured this. It's a single shot with the Sony A6400 and Samyang 12mm...
Here is an image I shot from Mono Lake while waiting for the skies to get dark enough for the Milky Way. Because the Milky Way was my goal for that evening, I had never gone back and processed this twilight image. When I looked at it today it had some nice light on the Tufa (I have no idea where...
One just processed from the archives. I really liked how the shorelines on both sides mimicked each other at Mono Lake in California as the sun was getting low in the sky towards sunset.

A recent sunrise at Mono Lake in the Eastern Sierra in California. As the sun was rising above the horizon and burning through some clouds I like how these tufa's framed it.

When I was up at Mono Lake a few weeks ago, one of the evenings there was this foam that had gotten blown up along the shore line. Of all my times at Mono Lake I don't recall ever seeing the foam built up like this before.

I was shooting Mono Lake in the afternoon, hoping for a nice sunset. It looked like it wasn't going to happen so I started looking for some interesting clouds. We then started getting some color to the west, which I captured in this image. I liked the rocks in the foreground, because for me they...
From Mono Lake a few weeks ago, there was some gentle colors as the sun was beginning to rise. It was a cool, crisp and peaceful morning.

A friend here in Colorado told me I need to check out Mono Lake if I was going to go to Yosemite. The first day when Jim and I got there is was snowing, cold and overcast but the following night when we had finally decided it would be best to shoot Mono at night rather than Mammoth due to time...
Although Mono Lake I guess isn't actually in the photo, but the tufa's next to it are. :)
This one I felt was better as B&W.

I was up in the Eastern Sierra catching the Moonrise and Moonset a few years back. In this one it was one day before ideal timing, but the light clouds diffuses the moon while the sun was still strong enough to light up the foreground. The foreground might seem too bright to some, but that was...
I shot this a couple of years ago at Mono Lake as I was passing through on my way to look for some fall color. I shot the sunset at Navy Beach and saw the crowds over at South Tufa. I headed over there once it got dark, and found it amusing that I was arriving while everyone else was leaving.
I...
Here is one from 10 years ago I found while digging the other day. It's from Mono Lake, and the lenticular cloud spiraled up like I have never seen since. This is one, I think I might pull back out and freshen up the processing on. This was a 3 shot pano.
