My theme for today's Winged Wednesday is low key bird photography or if you prefer bird with a dark background.
I have been reluctant to used dark backgrounds because hummingbirds are active in daylight and a black background feels like night to me. This is a female black-chinned hummingbird photographed with a multi-flash set-up that stops motion to about 1/20,000 second.
Great Blue Heron in dappled light against the deep shade of pine trees in the background. Metering for the bright face of the heron under exposes the rest f the photo.
This is a captive Golden eagle. The dark background was produced during processing.
This red-lored parrot was photographed in Cost Rica. The dark background was enhanced during processing.
