Todays contribution for Winged Wednesday are three shore birds with long bills and a sandpiper

Long-billed Curlew

Marbled Godwit

Pectoral sandpiper in breeding plumage on the Alaskan tundra. Chest puffed proudly displaying to attract nearby female.

Nice set Eric - for once I can follow along with another long bill specimen in the form of a Great Blue Heron.

Last week decided to go to a local pond to try and start to learn how to take bird in flight shots. The visit produced further evdence that it will take a long time to even become proficient. Lesser black backed gulls (I think).

The Basal knobs on the top of his bill is extreme in numbers. Both male and females develop the basal knob during breeding season and it falls off after. I have not a clue of the knobs significance . Superb photo, Roger
