Time for another round of falling water

My starter falls for today is called Brandeberry Falls on the Olympic Peninsula. These falls are located near US Forest Service road NF-29 which follows the Calawah River just north of Forks. The falls aren't exactly on any kind of improved trail and getting up close would require ropes and some climbing skills so shooting from a nearby slope is the best I could do.

I went back to my local river to take more images and explore other ways of getting into the gorge without the 1,000ft of descent and ascent. One overall image and 2 detail shots that I only noticed when viewing the images on the computer screen but will fully explore this aspect in the Autumn. The river level was about 1 foot higher than on previous visits and the wet rocks were treacherous. The second detail image is very noisy, despite the best efforts of Topaz denoise AI, because this little part of the main falls was in deep shadow and many stops underexposed but I liked the shape created. Delightful set Ken - hard to pick favorites since I like something about each of them although the last one does stand out for the unique view and lighting.

Great work Ken! All are awesome. #2 is my favorite as I just love pouroffs like that.

Thanks for starting this Alan, and two great posts by you and Ken. Mine is an image from American Fork River taken last Saturday. This is normal processing, I pool of light is Kens thing and it was fun to explore it but I will remain more conventional.

I like the indirect/overcast light on this scene as it really helps even out the shadows and lets the river details take over the frame. Nice one.

This from Sneffels Creek off the road up to Yankee Boy Basin yesterday. It was raining, sometimes pouring rain, there was hail and there was thunder. So I didn’t spend too much time out photographing. But I did get some. With being on the road, this is with the iPhone, hence the fast shutter speed look in the water.

That's quite the load of mud coming over those falls and almost looks like a flash flood flow. Nice you got a capture during the storm.

This image of Vernal Falls was after the beginning of the descent via the John Muir Trail.
This felt less intense, more intimate and balanced. I also like the way the tree on the left seems "influenced" by the falls.

I like the point of view for these falls. The iPhone does a pretty good job with the range of light in this scene.

This is from a trail that goes from Sol Duc falls to Deer Lake - a pretty steep 2.5 miles. The water is flowing away towards the Sol Duc Falls from this viewpoint.

Cool view from that trail Jameel - not one I have visited. I have only been up as far as the Sol Duc Falls.

Here is a local one from Short Springs State Natural Area. Captured back in 2016. Wasn't sure which one to post as I have 3 different perspectives of this falls on this date.

Delighted you found this Jon - and you have a really nice set of falls with this scene. I love the swirling leaves and the almost ethereal light to highlight the cascades.
