How can I access the photos stored on a CompactFlash card from an old Canon Powershot s40 camera using a PC?

I have an old Canon Powershot s40 camera that uses a CompactFlash SanDisc ultra II 256mb card to store photos. The camera and the card are both functional, but when I connect the camera to my PC via a mini USB cable, I cannot see the card or the photos on the file explorer. Is there any specific software or driver that I need to install on my PC to read the card? I have no problem with SD cards, but this is the first time I am using a CompactFlash card.

Do you have access to an external Compact Flash card reader? I used to have an old Powershot S50 way back when and used an external card reader that connected to a Dell laptop via USB to grab the files off of the storage card. I don't recall ever using a USB cable to directly connect to the camera to download the images.

Hey Elliot, my suggestion will be the same as Alan's. Pick up a Compact Flash reader. There are no drivers needed to read the card itself that I know of.
