A fun little timelapse I took with my oldest grandson in Colorado a few weeks back.

How do you take such videos? Any guide you can suggest.my son is dead keen to try!!
Thanks Graeme. I used the GoPro Hero 9 on this. It's around $300 or a little more, but it's a fun way to do timelapses during the day since it's got built in stabilization. You don't have to buy anything extra it's built into the camera.

Cool, thanks Jim. Will check it out. Out of curiosity how do you 'hold' the device when filming? Is it handheld or are you mounting it on a backpack strap or chest plate for ex?

I am just holding it my hand. I have a strap that can go on my head, I have tried that when I was doing some timelapses out in Joshua Tree a few months back, but my issue with that was as I was running I wouldn't always be looking a head or what I wanted to video. I had to really focus on keeping my head straight and not looking around like we normally do when we are out. By holding it in my hand I can keep it pointed at something even while I turn my head to look at something else. It makes for a less jerky video.

Thats good to know. I might save up and invest in one!
You should. They are lot's of fun, especially with kids.

Be sure to get the Hero 9. I still have the Hero 7 which is the first GoPro I got. And it was good, but in Hero 9 they upgraded the stabilization substantially. It's also got a cool new feature where it will keep the horizon level for you. So if you are running around chasing your son with this, it will keep the horizon level besides stable and not bouncing with your every walk. It's got a built in Gimbal that is every bit as good as the ones you would have to pay $200 or 300 for. And it's just built into the camera.

Now the only downside is it shoots wide.... very wide. So it wouldn't replace your regular camera, but it does compliment it very well.
