Snow on a Cactus Plant

I was driving through Red Rocks Park looking for photo ops after a recent snow. This cactus plant caught my eye, with snow draped over the spines.

It's interesting how the snow can sit on top of a cactus without getting poked!

Not a favorite atmospheric condition for the cacti but some species do manage to survive anyway. I have seen prickly pear in places I wouldn't expect a cactus plant to survive at all.
