Red Blues

One of my favorite plants in our garden are the blueberries since we get gallons of berries to eat/freeze and in the fall the bushes put on an amazing color show. From a couple of days ago.

This was a hard shot to process since the original reds were too overwhelming to fit into the sRGB color gamut. I had to tone down red luminance quite a bit and made sure to convert to sRGB color as the first step in photoshop so I could stay within its limits.

I can imagine how those Reds were just blowing up!

This is a great image with the water or dew drops on the leaves. It always strikes me as funny that the blue berry bush turns red in the fall. Just that transition of color is kind of cool.

Thanks Jim - this was a morning shot after several rainy days so plenty of dripping leaves all around. I like the fact that blueberries offer up two sources of joy with both the berries and the fall colors. We have 7 of these bushes in full color right now.

You did a good job with the reds, Alan. They're still super vibrant.
Thanks Monika - it took a few tries to get this one to work. When I did my processing in ProRGB and then converted the result for the web the details in the leaves turned into mush and looked horrible. sRGB doesn't handle deep reds very well.
