Rat Island

Hey Paul! We have been missing you! It's great to see you again, especially with such an awesome shot!

This is an amazing work of Art! The B&W is perfect, and what a cool looking island. It might not be a cool island to be on if it's full of rats, but it sure looks cool from a distance. :)

Thanks everyone for your kind comments. It looks as though the compression has caused banding towards the top of the frame, however I've just printed a 24"x20" for my daughter-in-law and it's looks perfect.

That’s great to hear it printed out so well! I hadn’t noticed any banding on here, it must be pretty subtle.

Proof is in the printing, glad it turned out well.
I know you didn't ask for a critique, but have you tried cropping some off the top and bottom, those areas don't seem to add much.

Peaceful, and interesting, I really want to know where the treasure is buried! But really- fantastic final result, great catch and editing

Rats or not, this is a fine image. I like the dark top and bottom, tho there is a bit too much of it.

I agree Jeffery, and maybe this was not the perfect candidate to include in my square LE collection. Here is the unedited original file to give you an idea of the challenge I had regarding composition.

jim: I usually process my files using either ADP panel or TK. However, this started out as a quick process for FB using LR, convert to BW and a mixture of digital grads. My Daughter-in-law saw the FB posting and demanded a print. I was quite shocked how well the print turned out with these minor adjustments in LR.

Thanks for the info and original Paul. You really found a gem in there - the vision to process like that is more than half the game in modern digital photography and is the essential step to create fine art, which this truly is.

The color version is nice, but it's amazing to see how you turned that color version into fine art B&W. I am even more impressed now.
