After using shoulder straps probably from my first SLR back in the eighties (am I really that old already?) some months ago, tired of the ever complicated folding and tucking it away in a bag or exchanging it with the safetystrap of a carrier harness, I put on a wrist strap. Not a handstrap, they're awkward to hold IMHO, but a wriststrap to keep the camera from hitting ground if I let it slip.
I should have done this years ago. Mine thightens itself when pulled, so it sits loosely but will keep my camera whole if I drop it - my heart stopping anyway but at least my camera will live through it
.
Handles way and much easier. If you loathe the shoulder strap, try the wriststrap!
