Foto Stacking in the R5

Nice result - I always struggle with that feature because I'm never sure exactly how the settings control the steps.

Nikon has had that feature for 5 or 6 years now and I still haven’t really tried it, I used it more on landscape scenes, but focus stacking from the camera itself would be really cool for Macro.

I played around with the settings - number of frames and the spread of increments - I landed on a a set I liked but I still get a lot of frames toward the end that are not used - still refining the settings

Looks great Marcy.

As to the stacking feature, I wish they had done it differently. A more predictable way would be to define the near most point, the farthest point and number of shots. Even better it can calculate that itself and give you that many exposures. The way it is currently it allows a starting point and the number of exposures. It can either get too few or too many at times.

Nice work, great you have that option, I wish my Sony did. does it also save all the RAW files so you can do your own stacking in post if the in-camera isn't too your liking?
