Eilean Donan take 2

From 2016 this time. Same car park, same mid day time but exactly high tide this time. This often produces very calm water and I was lucky here. Previously I have only produced a monochrome version but yesterday decided to produce a colour version and having done so realise why I went for mono as the colours are muted in the extreme. I like the slight ripple on the water and I produced a long exposure version but the water just lost all of its sparkle. Ken

Hey Ken,

It's great to see this with water to compare it to the one you posted yesterday.

Thanks for including the color, it does show why going to B&W is the way to go.

I like my reflections to have ripples sometimes as I like the bit of mystery they can add, but that said perfect reflections can often be super cool too. In this case, I do like the rippled reflections better.

It's interesting how you had moved between the first 2 images and used a different focal length. I really like how that rock in the water is placed in #2. I was trying to think if I liked that placement better then in #1 where the rock just merges in with the bridge better?

So, I decided that I like the longer lead in of the bridge in #1, and also like the clouds in #1. The reflection is the best in #1. In #2, I like that rock in the water and I also like the motion in the flag on the bridge.

As overall images, it's really hard to pick which I like best, but I think I would go with #2 but a slight nod. But they are really close to being equal in my visual enjoyment.

One thing I noticed, and it's natural, it's the tilting of the castle in the reflection. While that's true to how it was captured, sometimes on my images I will use the warp tool to straighten those edges in the castle to be vertical in the reflection. What's your take on that?
