Eilean Donan Castle

This is one of Scotland's most photographed castles, for good reason. This image from 2012, reprocessed today, is shot in bright sunshine with low tide revealing lots of cluttered foreshore but I still like it. Taken with a 10Mp, 4/3rds camera showing that, with good medium contrast light, old cameras can still produce acceptable images. I would need to upscale it to fill a 4k screen however. I will be returning in a few weeks and wonder if several thousand dollars worth of modern technology will produce a better image. I am hoping for high tide and a brooding sky and that will produce a moodier image rather than this Tourist Board "Visit Sunny Scotland" image. Ken

For web sized imagery this is a gorgeous shot - glad you decided to resurrect it. Definitely a castle worth a revisit as it is a beautiful edifice. I hope you get good shooting conditions like this for your upcoming visit. This would look nice either in gloom and doom atmospherics or with the tourist board conditions you had back in 2012.

This does look great! And it would make for a good promo image for the Scotland is Really Sunny campaign! :)

Very nice work on this. I do really like the ground details too. Those are great clouds too, though I look forward to seeing this with some brooding skies as well. Hopefully you can time it to make it there with high tides and stormy weather.

Ken, I would take a long exposure, perhaps. The castle is very beautiful.
