Canon 5d mark ii IR conversion

Well I ordered and received an IR converted Canon 5d Mark Ii from Life Pixel. Delivery was impressive in 2 days to Ireland but sadly the rear LCD screen is cracked.

I don't think this was done during postage as really well packaged so had to have been seen during conversion. Disappointed that this was not brought to my attention as I would not have purchased it. 😕

To be fair I reached out to Life Pixel and they responded almost immediately. I am going to try and get this fixed my end. The camera seems to be in good condition otherwise.

There is probably a moral to this story somewhere.

Ouch! Is LifePixel going to work with you on getting this repaired? I would definitely want to have this fixed.

Sorry to hear about that Graeme! I wonder how that got missed or not mentioned? LifePixel seems very conscientious, so I would think it wasn't deliberate. Hopefully it gets resolved, do you have a repair center close to you that can repair it?

Which IR conversion did you choose?

Did you click on my name for a referral on their website when you ordered it?

I went for the full colour spectrum 590m IR and referred you Jim alright. It's probably going to be a month before I get it back as genuinr parts hard to find for it. Bit of a pain. I'm going to ask LifePixel to cover the cost.

Awesome! Every referral to LifePixel we have gets a little money sent back to FocalWorld.

I like my 590nm conversion. I am really happy with the look, and I like not having to use additional filters like with a full spectrum conversion.

Keep us updated on it.

Well a little post note for my adventure.

Getting genuine parts for the Canon 5dMkii is a little tricky given the camera stopped production some years now. Who knew? Anyway turns out the damage to the camera is the rear-LCD screen vs the LCD itself which is good news. A trawl through ebay and I have got the right replacement part (lots of knock-offs but only the genuine version comes with the antiglare/double sided tape apparently : https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CANON-EO...INDOW-PLASTIC-COVER-GENUINE-NEW-/183829734739)

Getting it fixed locally, once it turns up, and hopefully will be using the camera by the end of the month. Daniel at LifePixel has already refunded me for my troubles so to be fair a great aftercare service and I would happily recommend LifePixel or use them again myself.

Glad to hear that! That's too bad about the trouble, but those things can happen. The good news is LifePixel is taking care of you.
