Anyone using an ap to control a Canon

I ordered the 5R which has wi-fi and Bluetooth. Canon has an ap called Canon Connect, it gets terrible reviews. The worse is that it fails to connect or is hard to set up.

All I would want is basic control, like setting apertures, shutter speed etc and then see the same preview I get on the live view, snap an image and get a jpg upload.

Not interested in video or time lapse. A decent range is also important.

So the question is if anyone has used or knows of an ap that does this.

I have similar connectivity with my 5D Mk IV and did set it up to work through an app so I could see how it worked. It did work but it felt like a solution to a problem I am not having so I haven't really bothered doing anything with it. YMMV.

I tried with SL2 I had and it seemed to work, though like Alan, I never felt the need to use it.

There are times I wish I had with low to the ground set up where the 5DsR doesn't have tilt on the rear screen to help with composition. The R5 would not have that problem.

Thanks guys. Just to have a remote that did not require a cord and could be used from in back of the camera would be great.
