Portraits of flowers seem to be in style here right now. This is the first bud on a new rose bush we planted last year.
It is not a cutting....I have an non-reflecting black board I place behind flowers in the garden -- the result is somewhat like Alan's recent photos here.
Here's one other...
Thank you for your comments. The first photo (Rome) is my favorite of this set -- it brings back the quiet mood of the streets before the crowds are out and about each day. I thought the street sweeper was a lucky catch.
Good news! On my calibrated desktop monitor, the reds are much better. I should have looked there before judging from the laptop display. It's unfortunate that image quality varies so much with different devices.
A very nice closeup but the reds do appear blown out. I've noticed that often with reds online and I've never been sure whether it's due to sensor "delta C" or a browser color management problem....or something else. Reviews of many consumer cameras note that oversaturation by 10% or so is common.
Just a collection of good memories
Rome - in the morning light
Colmar, France......called the most beautiful small town in the world.
San Gimignano.....the small town of 5 towers in Italy
A back street in Strasbourg
The clock portal in Rouen, France
I'll offer 2 more of our backyard visitors.
We're waiting for the first arrival of these beauties this year.
Not so sure we want these visitors.

Excellent portraits.....but I can't say much about the beauty of the Antlion.
Here are a few from our backyard -- some old and some new.
Some large......
.....and some very small.
Just today we had the usual spring gathering of robins at the fountain.
And I'll add one to compete...
I really like the scrub jay in flight...and you're right of course about them knowing where the peanuts are. They were hiding peanuts around the yard and came back and found them the next year.

There is an issue with Uploading Photos (attachjments). I am not sure what the problem is, and I am looking into it. You can still try to Create your Threads and Upload your Photos, but it is hanging up during the Upload.
