Happy Waterfall Wednesday once again :)

For a couple of years after moving to digital from film I spent a lot of time around the various water features in the Columbia River Gorge trying out different techniques for capturing flowing water. I was fascinated by the differences in shutter speed with different flows of water and in particular the textures you could get in certain circumstance. In rapids with a fast enough water flow there is a sweet spot that leaves the water surface looking like it was painted with brush strokes. This is one such set of rapids just above Bridal Veil Falls.

Pile on with your own variants of falling water.

I really like the shutter speed you used to capture the texture in the water, Alan.

Thanks for starting this Alan, and what gorgeous water with perfect shutter speed. I also note that if I take several at the same shutter speed I can get different patterns sometimes a greater area is white than at other moments.

Here is my shot for this week. Fron near Logan Pass.

I am presently in Glencoe in Scotland coping with high winds and snow and multiple waterfalls but I haven't processed any yet so these are from North Yorkshirea couple of weeks ago. Ken

    i like this one Ben!

I will do the same as to taking several shots at the shutter speed I like as where and how the water flows through your frame will vary. There is a changing pattern, and I have found some flow better then others, so I like to shoot more then 1 shot for that reason.

I'll also take several shots at the same shutter speed, for the same reason. I'll also take a few both shorter and longer. Sometimes different parts of the scene render better with different speeds so I'll blend them.

    Winter in the Punch Bowl!!!!

    Not Really. :)

This is from the Punch Bowl in Columbia River Gorge. When I converted it from color to B&W I found the Yellow Channel when adjusted right seemed to add a winter snow feel to this. I thought it was cool.

0FE9F2E9-67AF-4573-89BB-E28FFFB47B2D.jpeg On our trip north through Sweden we stumbled upon these falls which we were able to capture from the top as the water cascaded into the gorge below us.
    The rainbow was a bonus.
