Wednesday is upon us so more falling water is in order :)

This falling water does not appear on park maps but I was looking for steep drop offs along the Gibbon River and found this. At least one topo map calls these the Gibbon Rapids. I was smitten by the interesting rock the water has carved in the middle.

Pile on and lets celebrate falling water.

    Ok Alan,
Here is my contribution. This is a very difficult falls to get too. It only runs when there is snow on the rim of Oak Creek canyon. It is located in one of its drainages and you have to climb through a lot of fallen trees and deep snow when it is running.

Here is a small water fall in the Virgin River in Zion National Park. And no, I didn't place the leaf.

This rock is really unique. I don't think I have ever seen this before. The rock has fallen into the stream and then the stream has eroded it around the base to create the pedestal-like shape. Cool image, Alan.

This wasn't a marked wayside along the park roads at all - just a spot that was wide enough for me to pull off and then I had to work my way down a slope without a trail to get down to the water so not a place that is going to get much attention. Once I spotted that rock I was determined to get to where I could shoot it since it was so unique. I figured you might like it while I was shooting.

You were right. I can't quite tell what the exact composition of the rocks is but I can tell they are volcanic. They almost look like a tuff of some sort which is a softer rock.

Thanks again for starting this Alan, and what a neat rock in your image.

Mine is from the pour off from Grand Prismatic Springs into the Gibbon River. I likes the bright orange mineral deposits and the steam.

A very small waterfall on the River Gelt about 1 mile from home. Still a few golden leaves clinging on to the beech trees. Ken

Tumwater Dam near Leavenworth, WA. Not a natural waterfall, but it is flowing water …

Cascade de Rouget. Went for a walk North of Chamonix in France and came across this waterfall. Impossible to photograph it from the best angle as the spray was soaking everything and the camera was facing into the sun. With more time I would have returned the next morning when the light would have sidelit the water but life got in the way of photography. Ken

Mine is a late one I know. But I was busy with the forum yesterday, so that's my excuse! :)

This is from last week in Yosemite of Bridalveil Falls early morning.
