When you really want to get away from it all without needing to be far away there are a few places along the Oregon Coastline that are black holes for communications with the outside world. One of those places is just a couple of miles north of the Heceta Head Lighthouse in an Oregon State Park named after Carl Washburne (A Eugene businessman and Oregon Highway Commissioner from 1932-1935). The park is tucked into the drainage of China Creek on the backside of Heceta Head and has absolutely nothing resembling cellular connectivity or TV service at all. At the same time you are less than 15 minutes north of Florence if you want anything. One of my favorite places to camp when I was still working and didn't want anyone to be able to contact me. This is one of the local rhododendrons along the trails that encircle the campground. C&C always welcome.
