I've been thinking a lot about our National Parks lately as they have in the news for bad reasons. Here are two of our nation's jewels. The first is my first photo to reach Explore on Flickr since March 2015, and it's from Joshua Tree National Park just a few weeks ago. The second is from last March standing among the redwood giants in Sequoia National Park in the snow.

I love the redwood giants with the dusting of snow. The winter light seems well controlled for a clean exposure on the trees and no blown out skies. Nice backlighting on the chollas too.

I have only visited the coastal redwood groves and snow is not a common event there.

    Congrats on the award Kurt!

I do like the cholla, good job working the sun in it. Your shot from Sequioa is sure unique and a little different then the typical look up shot.

The sequoias are great, unusual framing, but the snow really makes it.
