Last year I did some scouting trips along Sweet Creek to explore the trails along the set of waterfalls from the various trailheads in the canyon. Once peaceful scene I encountered last January was an alder grove that straddled the creek and I decided a revisit would be in order when the trees weren't bare.

I thought it might be interesting to compare the scene between the mid winter shot and one I took a few weeks ago. For the record - don't ask me about juicing up fall colors - alders don't have fall colors and there were no visible yellows in the scene at all.

Wow, what a difference in water flow. You live in a might green location.

This is pretty cool seeing the difference Alan! I think I can see your #2 shot inside of #1. It would have been cool for comparison had both shots had the exact same composition. I know I keep meaning to do those types of shots but don't, so I probably shouldn't say anything.

I did start out by shooting the original frame as best I could recall it 10 months later but with the creek at such low water levels I didn't quite like the composition as well. This is the first version I shot a few weeks ago:

There were some fall colors (barely) with the big leaf maple sprouts in the foreground but I didn't find them particularly pleasing in the composition and opted for the smaller scene at the top of the thread.

What a contrast! Fine work, Alan. I can see the appeal to return to this spot!
