Sierra Storm Chasing

...Well maybe not "chasing" but closely monitoring the NWS forecasts and being prepared to go on short notice. This is an image that I had pre-visualized more than a decade ago. However, as it often does, life got in the way and I only made it to this location several times over the last decade. Each time the lighting conditions were not right. Fortunately last Tuesday everything came together.
btw this was taken the same night as Jim's recent post.

This is really cool Dave! We certainly got some really nice light towards sunset. And how cool to hear we were only a few miles apart, that's funny.

Now the important question is, did you get to stop at Schat's Bakery in Bishop? Because I did twice.

No doubt an iconic place... I usually just stop at Starbucks and fuel on pure caffeine ;o)

Dave,
Everybody covered it but I will just add pretty stunning !
I feel like I have been here but have only been up the pass once in my life. Is this off the road before you get to the Tioga pass gate at the top ? Just curious these little lakes up there may all look very similar .
Regards,
Dean

Hi Dean,
This was taken a bit south of Mammoth Lakes and about 8 miles in from the trailhead.
