I shot the Tulip Nebula (sharpless 101) over a two night period this weekend.

I was hoping to get at least 8 hours of data, but clouds were a problem last night, so I only got 5 hours total integration.

After a quick edit today, here is what I got. I am not sure I like this edit and I may try to re-edit the image when I collect more data.

The Tulip Nebula is 6,000 light years away and spans about 70 light years across!

Pretty cool starting point. Please post an update if you take this farther.

70 light years is pretty big, yet we don't see it with the naked eye. What angle does it make from earth? Another great image by the way.

    Andrew,

Nice start! Even 5 hours of data is not bad - looks like maybe just maybe the weather pattern is starting to ease up. Look forward to what you get to when you add some more data!
