On a local beach we had an ababdon ship wash up. Most of the time I avoid things like this, just because all the local photographers over do it. That just kind of kills it for me. After thinking about, why should I care. how often does an oppertunity arise like this. Needless to say the clouds and weather just not playing nice, but I did dart out there the first chance I got. All C&C welcomed

Awesome work Joe! I like both but especially #1. The B&W says shipwreck I think, and the vignetting framing I think is better in #1. I do think #2 is very nice too, but I give a slight nod to #1.

And I like your change of thinking. Maybe because for so many years I solely photographed for my own personal enjoyment and even family members never saw my photos. I say that because I had never cared how many others took a photo of an object, location or icon, because I was photographing for myself and my own enjoyment. So I am glad to see you have decided not to care if others have photographed something that if it interests you, you are going to shoot it.

I agree, the B&W works best here and this is a great subject.

Interesting specimen - kinda surprising it got abandoned since it still has quite a bit of what looks like working/salvageable hardware attached.

This works quite well both as B&W and color.

Thank you Jim, and I appreciate your back story and insight. I don't get a lot of that from my local photographers.

    Joe.. Beautiful
I think you captured a real gem, both versions. After reading the article about the boat it seems that this is a temporary situation and the boat will be gone soon. Thus ending any opportunity for additional images. Also being located in the NE one must take advantage of the situations that present themselves.. we don’t have any 14000 ft peaks or deserts to create images and are left to our own creativity. Great vision and creativity here.
    Regards,
    Dean

    Joe,

Great shot, with the B&W really working well. I actually like the last version posted even more - the rope coming right at the viewer and clouds and surf blurred by just the right shutter speed make it a real winner. Great tonal balance in the image too - great B&W mix.
