Made the hike out to Reflection Canyon earlier this week. Before this hadn't been able to get out and shoot for about a month so I haven't had much to share. The hike didn't go quit as planned - would've been better to shoot this at sunset with the sun to my back but ended up there at sunrise so had to shoot as the sun was coming up. Had just enough time to get a couple of pictures before the sun broke over the horizon. reflection canyon.jpg

Sweet shot even if it wasn't the plan. Sometimes the best shots are serendipity. The light you scored here was a perfect match for the long exposure and the water surface. I like the soft reflections and contrast of the water color and the "bathtub ring" shoreline.

Hey Brandon, you may not have been able to shoot for a bit, but you sure made up for it in Grand style! I sure like the look of this, it’s really sweet!

How was the hike? I haven’t been there yet, but if I remember from what I have read isn’t it like a 7 mile hike one way?

A lovely soft image. I will need to look out for a sunset image from here. It may look more spectacular but the soft light here allows me to see lots of detail in the rocks. I would be tempted to clone or "warp" out the tiny bit of bright rock bottom right as it grabs my attention and diverts me out of the image but that is me nit picking. Ken

Beautiful capture Brandon, this works both with or without the sky, i would be tempted to remove that distraction on bottom right.

Well done. I'm with Andrey, a little dodging in that corner to darken could help.

Beautiful composition, Brandon. Is this along the San Juan River in Gen Canyon? How far is the hike?

HI Douglas, sorry for the extremely late response. This is located in Escalante Grand Staircase. The trail starts from Hole in the Rock Road. It's about 9-10 miles each way. Not much of a trail and no water so it's a pretty brutal hike since you have to carry all the water you'll need. Not recommended in the summer as you are exposed the entire time. If you do a google search for reflection canyon you'll find plenty of information.
