Yosemite Valley after the first wintery Storm this week.
Looks like a quiet scene to be in......
That's my fantasy at least - don't spoil the mood by describing the squealing mobs in the parking lot
Was pretty nice. No parking lot nearby, no crowds that morning. Campgrounds closed, only one road into the park open. Tire chains at R2. Just the way I like it.
That's awesome Jim! The best conditions all around for Yosemite!
Congrats on the Daily Featured Post Jim!
Very similar shot from two weeks before (11/15). What a difference a foot+ of snow overnight makes...……..
Gorgeous. I dream of X-skiing in Yosemite on a quiet day like that. The before shot is really nice too - I like the layers of color and bit of light o the middle grass.
Lovely! (the one with the snow )
Fantastic image! The lighting just draws my eyes through the tree 'tunnel'!
Great scene & B&W really takes it over the top!
Nice job with both images, Jim.
Love the composition with the darker trees framing the light in the center. I think the snowy B&W works much better than the previous color version.
Yes, I like the B&W rendition of the snowy capture also. Took a little time to work it up. This is a jpg of the final print version. The color photo wasn’t worked up and and just shows what a difference one storm can make. Thanks as always for the comments.
Snow is a game changer. Nice imaging, Jim.
Beautiful snow scene.
Interesting comparison to the color.
Alan, you would be totally surprised. You might need to think differently about Yosemite in the winter. Except for a 2 week period at the end of Feb for Horsetail Falls, that winter time in Yosemite can be almost total solitude with very few people there, and I mean very few people. You would almost consider it deserted in the winter time.
